St James Parish church in Barlborough is helping the community to get into the Christmas spirit with its very first Grand Christmas Tree Festival running over three weekends beginning on Saturday 24th November.
The church will be open from 11am-5pm serving refreshments and you can browse all the Christmas Trees on display from local organisations and businesses. Some gifts and cards are available to purchase along with raffle tickets to win a luxury Christmas Hamper.
Also during the festival we are running these events in St James’ Church:
Advent Carols by Candlelight – Sunday 2nd December 6.30pm
You might know lots of Christmas Carols but do you know many Advent Carols? This is a beautiful service of light in the darkness – the theme of Advent is hope. We’ll be singing advent carols like O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Hills of the North Rejoice. Come to church just after the Christmas Lights switch on in Barlborough.
Tuesday 4th December 7.00pm Quiz Night with Pie and Pea Supper (Ticket £5 available from church or the Little School Coffee Shop Tues/Thurs).
See if you can beat the Rector’s team at this fun Quiz Night with pie and pea supper, mulled wine and mince pies.
Friday 7th December 7.00pm – free entry (retiring collection) – An Evening of Dickensian Music
Some say that Charles Dickens invented Christmas as we know it. This evening concert celebrates a Victorian Christmas with music and readings from that era.
Sunday 9th December 6.00pm – Light of Life Christmas Memorial Carol Service
Christmas can be difficult when you’ve lost a loved one. We are ending our Christmas Tree Festival with a special carol service at which we will remember our loved ones by dedicating a light on our memorial tree.
The people of Barlborough Parish Church look forward to welcoming you.
