Listen to the audio version of this here:

When Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s life are dead.’ Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And after being warned in a dream, he went away to the district of Galilee. There he made his home in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, ‘He will be called a Nazorean.’

Matthew 2: 18-24

The beginning of Jesus’ life was full of change, he had been raised in Egypt at first as a refugee and then Joseph has a dream encouraging him to travel home and so they return to Nazareth to make a new life. In 2020 we have all undergone tremendous change and have had to adapt to a new reality.

Take a moment to reflect on the changes you’ve experienced this year. Think of the positives and thank God for them. Think of the negatives and ask God to be with you as you process them.

We adore you O Christ and we bless you

Because by your Holy Nativity you have given us new birth
