Hello from the Rector
Dear friends,
I am very excited about the first ever Clowne Youth Music Festival and Summer Fair we are hosting tomorrow from 10am. If you’re not running a stall, please do come along and bring friends and neighbours to cheer on our performers. They are all under 18 and they are all really talented. The day will start with a showcase from Jessica Steele Studios with songs from the musicals and more. Then we will have performances from Ollie and Sophie Welsh, our very own choir (who aren’t under 18 but we hope we can recruit some new members!), Hollie-Rose, Keira Mae and Matt Alsop who are all superb vocalists and finishing with an acoustic set from local band The Zebedees (who I’ve been to see along with Suzy our organist, we are their biggest fans!)
As usual, we will have stalls inside church, an exhibition from the history society and outside the Old School Taphouse will be selling cold beers and non alcoholic drinks.
I do hope you can join us.
Then on Sunday we have our Patronal Festival Service at 10am at Clowne celebrating St John the Baptist. There will also be a service of Morning Prayer at Barlborough at 8.30am.
See you soon.
Every blessing,
Canon Bryony
For our next small group course we will be exploring pilgrimage by looking at the lives of the Anglo Saxon Saints and how we are pilgrims today. You can purchase the book Pilgrim People, Holy Lives for £3.50 from church. Other resources are available online: https://www.churchofengland.org/faith-life/pilgrim-places-holy-lives. 28th July Week 3: Pilgrimage as Discipleship
11th August Week 4: Pilgrimage as Mission

Please consider joining the Parish Giving Scheme to give regularly if you do not already do so.
It costs money to run our churches, to pay for our clergy and keep the lights on, most of our income comes from your generosity!
Joining the Parish Giving Scheme
A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid. Once you set it up you can relax and not worry about bringing cash to church.
How to give
Set up a regular gift to the parish by calling the dedicated telephone line: 0333 002 1271. Tell them the parish code:
- St John the Baptist, Clowne: 120612060
- St James the Greater, Barlborough: 120612054
You can also set everything up online yourself by visiting: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/
