Hello from the Rector
Dear friends,
For our Summer Fair at Clowne this year on 27th June, as well as our usual stalls and history exhibition we are hosting an outdoor music festival to showcase local young talent and have the brilliant young band, The Zebedees as our headline act! Listen to one of their songs here. Please invite friends and if you can take some posters to help us advertise it that would be helpful (these will be available at church).
Please be bringing raffle prizes to both churches and tombola prizes to Clowne for our upcoming Summer Fair and Music Festival (27th June Clowne) and Flower and Brick Festival (11th-12th July Barlborough).
We have a google calendar for all our events at church which is regularly updated, if you would like to add it to the calendar in your phone or on your computer, click here and then click ‘add’ and all our services and events will appear in your calendar.
For our next small group course we will be exploring pilgrimage by looking at the lives of the Anglo Saxon Saints and how we are pilgrims today. You can purchase the book Pilgrim People, Holy Lives for £3.50 from church. Other resources are available online: https://www.churchofengland.org/faith-life/pilgrim-places-holy-lives. This will be a five-week course running fortnightly over the Summer starting June 30th at 7.30pm in St John the Baptist, Clowne church:
30th June Week 1: Pilgrimage of the Soul
14th July Week 2: Pilgrimage as Encounter
28th July Week 3: Pilgrimage as Discipleship
11th August Week 4: Pilgrimage as Mission
25th August Week 5: Living as a Pilgrim
Even if you don’t attend the course you may still wish to purchase the book to use in your own personal devotions, I’ll be selling copies at church for £3.50.
See you at Clowne for our 10am Eucharist this week and at Barlborough for Morning Prayer at 8.30am and Choral Evensong at 5pm.
Every blessing,
Canon Bryony

Please consider joining the Parish Giving Scheme to give regularly if you do not already do so.
It costs money to run our churches, to pay for our clergy and keep the lights on, most of our income comes from your generosity!
Joining the Parish Giving Scheme
A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid. Once you set it up you can relax and not worry about bringing cash to church.
How to give
Set up a regular gift to the parish by calling the dedicated telephone line: 0333 002 1271. Tell them the parish code:
- St John the Baptist, Clowne: 120612060
- St James the Greater, Barlborough: 120612054
You can also set everything up online yourself by visiting: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/
