Hello from the Rector

Dear friends,

Last week at St John the Baptist, Clowne we elected Sue Lewis and Roger Street as our church wardens; Jacqui Davis and Stuart Anderson as new PCC members; and Julie Baugh and Stuart Anderson as our Deanery Synod Reps. Other PCC members continuing to serve are: Mick Lewis, Malcolm Mason, Adam Benton, Hilary Wignell.
Thank you to them all for offering their service. This information has been published on our website as well, here.

I do hope you can join us at 5pm at Clowne on Sunday for Andrew’s baptism – we’ve never had a baptism at the Refresh service before, it will be really special to celebrate with him.

If you’re interested in helping with our Flower and Brick Festival this year at Barlborough (11th-12th July) please stay behind after the service this week for a short meeting.

Join us this Saturday 23rd May for a lovely walk to Markland grips in Clowne. 3.2miles, allow 90 minutes. Moderate difficulty – walking boots recommended. Meet at the entrance to the Greenway, Nag’s Head car park in the centre of Clowne at 10.30am. Dogs on leads welcome.

Every blessing,

Canon Bryony

Please consider joining the Parish Giving Scheme to give regularly if you do not already do so.

It costs money to run our churches, to pay for our clergy and keep the lights on, most of our income comes from your generosity!

Joining the Parish Giving Scheme
A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid. Once you set it up you can relax and not worry about bringing cash to church.

How to give
Set up a regular gift to the parish by calling the dedicated telephone line: 0333 002 1271. Tell them the parish code:

  • St John the Baptist, Clowne: 120612060
  • St James the Greater, Barlborough: 120612054

You can also set everything up online yourself by visiting: https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/

Here’s how you can help by joining the Parish Giving Scheme and giving by Direct Debit.

A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid.

It gives all of us peace of mind – you’re not worrying about your envelopes with your cash gift piling up and we’re not worrying about loss of income – it’s a win win!
