Hello from the Rector
Dear friends,
I was on BBC Radio Sheffield this week as they did a virtual visit to Barlborough, you can listen here: http://bcjj.org.uk/2025/05/22/listen-to-revd-bryony-on-bbc-radio-sheffield-on-their-coach-trip-to-barlborough-on-22nd-may/
I found out that our friend April Darby knows a lot about moths and butterflies so we are having a Butterfly Walk on Saturday 31st May at 11.30am meeting at the Nag’s Head car park in Clowne to go for a 2-3 mile walk. Everyone welcome, including dogs and hopefully we’ll learn something about the butterflies in our area! If it is raining the event will be cancelled.
Leading Intercessions Workshop – Wednesday 11th June 7pm, Barlborough
We would like more people to help lead us in prayer in our services on Sunday. We are putting on this exploratory workshop to guide people through how to lead the intercessions in our Eucharist services, get some practice and give it a try. Come along to find out more. All welcome.
This Summer as part of the Big Barlborough Festival we are running our first Brick and Flower Festival and are inviting submissions. Perhaps you would like to do a floral arrangement (the theme is toys) or perhaps you have an amazing lego creation that could be put on display? Either way, please let me know if you would like to take part, the more the merrier! Set up will be on Friday 12th July.
Clowne Summer Fair will be on Saturday 28th June 10am-2pm. Please let me know if you’re interested in having a stall. The theme will be celebrating VE & VJ Day 80.
Please note that there will not be an evening service on Ascension Day this year, it will be a said service at 10.15am on Thursday 29th May at Barlborough. Those wanting to attend in the evening are welcome to come to St Giles, Killamarsh at 7pm where I will be taking the service while their parish is in vacancy.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday, there will be a baptism during the service, so extra special!
Every blessing,
Rev Bryony
