Hello from the Rector

Dear friends,

This is Holy Week

This is a rich time in the church calendar and an opportunity to journey with Jesus and the disciples to the cross and beyond. Take some time to meditate this week on what Jesus has done for you. I encourage you to attend as many of the services on offer that you can, the more you take part in, the more you will get from the experience. My particular favourite is the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday where we sit in the darkness and hear readings from the Old Testament pointing to the coming of Jesus and I sing the exsultet, the first hymn of praise of Easter as we light the paschal candle from the Easter Fire. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you!

Holy week starts on Palm Sunday and both our churches have services – please note the different times:

9.15am Sung Eucharist at Barlborough
11.00am Sung Eucharist at Clowne with a visit from Coco the Donkey!

A big thank you to David Blackwell for repainting the white lines on our steps at St James’ this week.

Every blessing,

Rev Bryony

Here’s how you can help by joining the Parish Giving Scheme and giving by Direct Debit.

A regular gift really helps our cash flow, prevents the need for us to count cash and go to the bank (thereby keeping us safe) and the scheme automatically claims Gift Aid.

It gives all of us peace of mind – you’re not worrying about your envelopes with your cash gift piling up and we’re not worrying about loss of income – it’s a win win!

Thank you for your help. Click here for more details:
