Hello from the Rector

Dear friends,

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you were able to have a good time over Christmas with friends and family. In church, the Christmas season continues and we are celebrating the feast of the Epiphany this Sunday at 10am at Clowne and 5pm at Barlborough with Choral Evensong.

Rev Mike is back with us this month before he leaves for pastures new in Leek, Staffordshire in February.

I’d like to introduce our new organist at St James Barlborough – Mike Robinson. Mike joins us from St Mary’s Handsworth, Sheffield as our new organist. He has already been with the choir for the last few months and played the organ for our Faure’s Requiem service. He will work alongside Steve Palfreyman, our choir director and April Darby will continue as Deputy Organist. We look forward to working with you Mike!

On Sunday 12^th January after the service at Barlborough we will be holding a short meeting for anyone interested in joining our welcome team at St James (which will involve giving people hymn books and service sheets as they arrive in church and keeping an eye out for newcomers). The more people volunteer, the less regularly you’ll have to do it! Be a part of making St James a lovely church to be in!
